Hello! Little cutie
I am Comic Black Rainbow
For those adorable beginners who enjoy drawing characters but struggle with human anatomy and perspective.
Painting figures has become a luxury that is both desirable and painful.
At this time, many people may choose to put it aside for the time being.
Just like this, a day, a week, a month, and a year passed.
They couldn't draw the characters they wanted to draw...
I understand this situation.
So today, I'm here to share a tool for drawing figures and characters with you!
It's Clip studio paint's 3D figure model!
I know it sounds simple: just adjust the 3D figure model's pose and draw from it.
And yes, it really is that simple.
However, those who haven't used 3D figure models much might find themselves getting stuck when they first try to adjust them.
That's how it was for me when I started.
So today, I'm going to share with you how we can adjust Clip studio paint's 3D figure models, what other incredibly useful features it has, and how we can use it to draw the characters we want!
(If you want a more direct demonstration of how to use the features, you can watch the video.)

●Clip studio paint head module

Before using the 3D sketch puppet, we can start from the head module to learn how to operate the 3D objects of Clip studio paint to adjust the position and angle we want. We can find the 3D head module from the orange frame on the right side of the picture above. Simply drag the head module you want to use into your canvas and you can use it. It should be noted that if you want to adjust the 3D object, you must click "Operation" → "Object" in the orange frame on the left to adjust your 3D object.
The small icons in the upper and lower rows of 3D objects are buttons for adjusting 3D objects. The functions of these buttons are:
1. Camera rotation at various angles
2. Pan the camera up, down, left, and right
3. Camera moves forward and backward
4. Move objects up, down, left, and right
5. Object rotation at various angles
6. Rotate the object vertically
7. Object horizontal rotation
8. Move the object forward, backward, left, and right
9. When there are two 3D objects, turning on the magnet (lightning appears under the magnet) will allow the objects to show whether they are parallel to each other when moving. When an orange frame appears on one side of the two objects at the same time, it means that the sides of the two objects with orange frames are on the same plane.
A. Show item list
B. By default camera angle
C. Look at the edited object
D. Set the model on the ground
E. Return to the initial position
F. Reworked mod scaling
G. Reworked module rotation
H. Register the head module to the material panel

After we understand the functions of the operation buttons of the 3D head module, if we want to adjust the head appearance or shape in a more advanced way, we can click on the wrench in the lower row to display the object list. Many functions are the same as the operation buttons in the upper and lower rows of the 3D head module, so here I will explain the more commonly used functions.
First of all, the head module allows you to adjust the head style you want, whether it is thin, strong, old, child, American comic style, or Japanese comic style, you can adjust the general style and appearance! If you want the influence of the styles to be more prominent, you can also uncheck the blending restriction, so that the blending of the shapes will be more obvious!

In the component operation part, you can make more delicate adjustments to the details of each facial feature, such as making the eyes bigger, wider, longer... and so on. So if you want to adjust the facial features of your own character, here you can have fun with face pinching and adjust the facial features of your own character. In addition, the buttons of the three faces below allow you to choose whether you want to adjust the left face, the whole face, or the right face, as well as the details of each part. So in this regard, Clip studio paint is very careful in preparing customized options for everyone, so that everyone can adjust their unique character features!

The last part I like very much is the light source! The reason why it is called Clip studio paint 3D Sketch Doll is that since there is sketching, it means there must be light and shadow, otherwise, how can it be used as a reference for sketching? So here, you can also adjust the light source by rotating the sphere, and you can also choose the color of the light for your reference. As for painting software, Clip studio paint 3D Sketch Puppet is a very powerful painting auxiliary tool!
So after we understand the operating functions of the Clip studio paint 3D head module, we can now try to use such auxiliary tools to draw!

After drawing the lines from the head model of Clip studio paint, I will still make adjustments to the details and shape of the head's facial features based on my aesthetics and my favorite way of expression. So sometimes, the accuracy and beauty of the drawing still require us to grasp both through our aesthetics and experience. Of course, if you want to learn how to improve your painting skills and aesthetic ability, you can take this painting course, which will greatly change your existing ideas about learning to paint!
●Clip studio paint 3D Dolls

After we understand how to operate and use the Clip studio paint 3D head module, it will be easier to use 3D sketch dolls! We can also find Pose in the auxiliary tools on the right side of the picture above, then select the action you like and drag it directly into the canvas. If you don't find a move you like and want to adjust the move yourself, you can also choose a move that is closer to the move you want to adjust. In Clip studio paint 3D sketch puppet, many functions are the same as the head module, so I will not repeat them here but will introduce the additional functions. In the lower row of operation buttons of Clip studio paint 3D sketch puppet, there are several more functions, which are briefly explained here:
I. Register pose to material
J. Flip the model's pose left and right
K. Register the 3D sketch figure on the material panel
L. Posture scanning, applying posture materials to modules, material hand scanning
M. Toggle whether the selected joint is fixed
N. Release all joint fixations
O. Detailed adjustment of the 3D sketch figure's body shape

The adjustable parts of the 3D sketch doll are also very delicate. The doll can be male or female, the height can be adjusted, the head-to-body ratio can be adjusted, and even the height, weight, and body shape can be adjusted. Therefore, those who want to draw various body shapes, or design the body shape for the character, will like this adjustment function!

In addition to the whole body posture, another part that many people would like to refer to is the hands, so in the "Posture" function, you can also make adjustments to the details of the palms.
After a general understanding of the operating functions of Clip studio paint 3D sketch puppet, we can capture our favorite puppet movements and pose them as a reference for painting. The character's posture adjustment is more complicated than the head module. If you want to see the detailed adjustment process, it is recommended that you watch the video instructions directly!

With the help of Clip studio paint 3D sketch puppet auxiliary tools, it is really much easier to draw the character's movements. However, there are still some differences between looking at the 3D puppet and drawing the real line draft, so I still adjust the details of the painting. For example, here, I think putting the hand on the chest is too monotonous, so I changed the hand movement.

After understanding the power and functions of Clip studio paint 3D sketch puppet, you can now open your Clip studio paint, then adjust the head features or the character's movements and postures to help you draw the character you want to draw.
Of course, such an auxiliary tool is mainly used for rescue and auxiliary purposes.
If you want to draw your characters, actions, and postures directly out of thin air, then you must have the ability to draw anything.
I know this ability sounds difficult, it feels like it will take a lot of time and it is not easy to achieve.
But in fact, some techniques can be mastered quickly!
So I will share with you the path to learning this skill in this painting course.
Helping you know exactly which items to practice can help you draw anything!
I'm very happy to share with you this super useful painting tool Clip studio paint 3D sketch puppet! In fact, at the beginning, I felt that this 3D sketch puppet was too difficult to adjust, and I gave up for a while and didn't want to use it. But because I happened to see many people sharing many eye-catching poses in Clip studio assets, I suddenly thought that if I could make a good 3D puppet pose, it would not be limited to use once! I can change the angle, and the scene, and create a new illustration, right? Because of this, I started to spend some time studying how to adjust Clip studio paint 3D sketch puppets, and then I got more familiar with it! Of course, I also discovered during the process that some of the character poses or movements in my mind were not as good-looking as I imagined. So I have to say that whether it is drawing a picture or posing a 3D doll, you still have to do it to know whether your ideas are good or not. The best way to verify your ideas is to take action! So if you want to learn to draw, but still don't know how to start or how to learn, then you might as well take this painting course I specially prepared for you. Learn and absorb first, and then take action when you have an idea. Only then can you continue to optimize the action and draw everything you want to draw!
